Creation of a Chaos weapon requires a+5 Fire weapon (which in turn requires a standard weapon+5), Red Titanite Chunks for upgrading to+4 and a Red Titanite Slab for upgrading to+5, as well as the requisite souls. Post the recent patch, split damage elemental infusions actually can stay on par with plain physical scaling (per stat point invested) so long as you're averaging at least 2:1 ar:flatdef.Usually need a great+ class weapon or higher upgrade level/high scaling stats. Black Blade scales worse than Chaos Blade, but it's 1h R1 helps deal with groups since iirc it's a sweeping attack. A curved sword born from the soul of Quelaag, daughter of the Witch of Izalith, who was transformed into a chaos demon.
Chaos Blade is a Weapon in Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered. I would say use dark over chaos as stronger enemies tend to be more resistant to fire and more than likely weak to dark as apposed to fire. Pyromancies are useful, so clutch isn't wasted.
